DAKHLA

DAKHLA – MOROCCO
Good morning! It is not easy to reach the remote city of Dakhla, blissfully nestled between the waves of the Atlantic and the sand of the Western Sahara. For this reason many tourists don’t even take it into consideration; others consider the trip to Dakhla as their main interest. It is actually one of the most fascinating travel experiences that can be done: you will have to travel thousands of kilometers and you will need hours and hours of travel to get away from the chaos of big cities like Marrakech and Casablanca and reach this city with a relaxed atmosphere.

Founded by the Spaniards in 1844, Dakhla still maintains strong cultural ties with Spain, especially the Canary Islands. The fascinating journey to reach it is not the only good reason to include it in your travel itinerary in Morocco. This very particular city is immersed in a spectacular natural setting: it stands on a peninsula that extends for 40 km from the main coast creating a suggestive lagoon and boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Morocco. Unknown to international tourists until a few years, Dakhla is today an emerging destination of Moroccan tourism thanks to the ever growing interest in water sports, mainly surfing and kitesurfing.
